Retirement
Is an IRA right for you? If you earn taxable compensation (or are the
spouse of someone who does), you may well be eligible to open one. The
benefits are considerable: compound interest to accelerate the growth
of your nest egg - and tax savings to reduce the drag on that growth.
Capital Bank offers a range of retirement accounts to help you secure your future:
- Traditional IRAs. With this type of account, you generally pay no taxes on your deposits-or on the earnings in the account-until you start withdrawing them at age 59 and one half or later. (You must begin withdrawals by age 70 and one half.) Because many people are in a substantially lower tax bracket by that time, this allows them to save on their overall tax bill.
- Roth IRAs. With the Roth IRA, you pay taxes on the deposits when you make them. However, your withdrawals-which you can take anytime-may be tax-free (provided certain conditions are met).
- Coverdell Education Savings Accounts. This account allows you to contribute up to $2,000 a year (depending on your income). Withdrawn earnings are tax-free as long as they're used to cover eligible education expenses-including expenses for elementary school or secondary school as well as college.
You can open a Capital Bank IRA as either a personal savings account or a CD (with terms from six months to five years).
All these IRAs come with a host of exceptions and special circumstances.
To find out which of these apply to you-and which account might best
serve your needs, we recommend contacting your tax advisor before consulting with your Capital Bank banker.

Lending
The best things in life are free-sometimes. At other times, a personal loan can help. Whether you're buying a home or a car, putting on an addition or taking the trip of a lifetime, our personal loans can help you get there. Choose from these personal loan options.
- Home equity lines of credit (no closing costs; borrow up to 90% of yor home's value; 2.99% APR* for first four months, then variable based on the prime lending rate);
- Home equity loans (rate based on loan-to-value ratio and term of loan);
- Privilege lines of credit (write a check up to $25,000; no fees);
- Auto loans (for cars, light trucks, SUVs, minivans and more; rate based on year of vehicle and term of loan);
- Personal Loans (for whenever you need money: car repairs, household expenses, a new lawnmower, braces for the kids, etc.);
- Cash Reserves (covers overdrafts automatically; no cost until you use it)
